Interview planning
Interview Planning
Location:
Large TV studio, West Kent College
Date & Time: Wednesday 6th April at 2pm
Appropriate setting:
We decided to film the interview in the TV studio because it made the interview look professional due the clean backgroup as well as good lighting such as spotlights and if we use the studio then there is no outsdie distractions to distrub the interview. As well filming at college was easier for us to get to and for the interviewee to get to as well which was very important for the interview.
Recording method:
When choosing what we wanted to film the interviews with, we had a different option of camera, in the end we decied to pick the DSLR because both me and lauren were familuar with setting it up and it has a good video quailty which we wanted. we also used to camera to film the re enactments which meant we needed a lot of space so using a DSLR we were able to get a high storage memory card. as well as that we also used a tie mic for the interviews and a tripod for both the interviews and the re enacments.
Ambient Consideration
Because we are in the tv studio we have no reason to worry about background noise as there will on be us and the talent in the studio at the time of filming and we are also filming during half term so there will be no other students in the college at that time. Also just incase of unwanted background noise we have got a tie mic which picks up minimual sound.
Talent Liaison
When choosing the talent we wanted for the interviewee, we had to find someone to fit what we wanted which was a young girl who could protray the story which was being told. When we picked the talent we confirmed dates and location and gave her the questions so she coould prepare for the interview.
Structure
Question Formulation:
When forming the questions we had to base it around the victims story. We decided to use an actor for the factual programme becuase the victim didnt want to be on camera. when creating the questions we have to make sure that we got the story out of the victim without upsetting the victim. We wanted the interview to be more about sharing their story of what thye went through instead of mainly factual.
Scripting of interview input:
I will be conducting the interview with the client as they didnt want people who they do not know and i am very close to the client which is why i am the one who asked the questions. I also made sure i got enough answers from the victim as we wouldnt be asking again.
Structure Progression:
The way we introduced the interview we greeted the interviewee and got her to state her name and age. this helps the audience relate and understand the interviewee on a more personal level.
Preparation
Talent management:
When speaking to the interviewee all we had to make sure that we had to correct time and dates as well as going through the scrip before hand so she was prepared for the interviewee.
Interview Questions:
What happened?
We met online, he came
down from up north, we fell in love. Shortly after he moved in with me and
everything was going well until he stared drinking.
It started with a few
beers in the evening to a bottle of vodka a day.
It began with a few
arguments now and then, which seemed normal to me. Then the pushing started and
the punching began.
Everything I would say
and do would lead to an argument and me being thrown across the room or beaten.
He made me stop
talking to all my friends, I was so alone.
Eventually after two
years of the abuse I built up the courage to call the police after an argument
which lead to me having severe concussion.
How long for?
I was with for around
two years on and off
What did he do?
He would punch me,
throw things at me, threaten to kill me, I had to lie to my family about all
the bruises I had all over me. He would push me into furniture and would also
shout abuse to me every day about how much he hated me.
How did it affect your life?
It affected my life a
lot. I wasn’t allowed to go out of the house alone, he wouldn’t let me have my
freedom.
How did it stop?
Even after I called
the police and he got taken away, the abuse continued, he would call me and
text me all the time telling me he misses me and how he wants me back, so it
continued for another 6 months. A
